Up for consideration is this vintage F. This particular horn is from the private collection of esteemed jazz trumpeter Ryan Kisor. Among being a member of the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra since 1994, Kisors discography has over 170 credits to his name. As a native to the Sioux City area, it has been a privilege to serve Ryan and his family for many years. This trumpet is very good condition overall. There is quite a bit of lacquer wear throughout, but nothing to affect playability. The valves are fast and aligned, with matching serial numbers. The slides are smooth and straight. The bell engraving is very clear, but the bell suffers from the most lacquer loss. Included in the sale is an era appropriate Olds hardcase that is in great shape. The serial number, 53663, dates it to 1949-51; it is a Los Angeles horn. The Pearl inlays are in great shape and the horn appears to be in original condition. This trumpet was made in 1952 and is in really nice condition. It has been relacquered but the lacquer is in good shape. There are some signs of surface wear consistent with regular playing (see pics – on and around the valves show the most wear) but the instrument is dent-free and has been well taken care of. All the valves move freely and the slides pull easily. We’ve run it through our professional brasswind repair department to put it in top playing condition. The Olds Recording models are very highly regarded in the trumpet community. They feature a trombone-style water key for easy use, an ergonomically friendly offset second valve, a centrally located third valve slide, and a pushed forward valve section for balance. The sound is full and rich, but also has some power behind it. These trumpets just ooze quality that is rarely seen in more contemporary horns, even down to the elaborate engraving. Up for consideration is a rare trumpet/ cornet F. Olds “Super Recording” pair. These particular horns are from the private collection of esteemed jazz trumpeter Ryan Kisor. Among being a member of the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra since 1994, Kisors discography has over 170 credits to his name. As a native to the Sioux City area, it has been a privilege to serve Ryan and his family for many years. Both instruments are in great condition and only have minor cosmetic wear. There are no major dents or dings and the body on both horns are in great shape. On the trumpet: The lacquer has some wear throughout, but mainly on the bell and valve casing. The finger button inlays are not original, but fit the horn appearance well. On the Cornet: The lacquer is in near perfect condition, with minor marks on the valve casing. On both horns: The valves are fast and aligned, with matching serial number. The slides are smooth and straight. The bell engravings are very clear and crisp. Included In the sale is an era appropriate doubler’s case that fit the horns very well. The trumpet serial number, 19431, dates it to 1947-48. The Cornet, 45842, to 1948-49. Both are Los Angeles horns. Please ask for more pictures; they are available. As much as we’d like to keep these two rare horns together, we are not opposed to splitting them up. 3 valve BBb king 1240 tuba with recording bell. Comes with the two cases all latches work on the cases. There are no visable holes in the case or horn(where holes shouldn’t be). Small dents and scratches around the horn largest dents are pictured. 1 screw is falling off (it bends back and works as pictured) but the horn fits together well. Olds Recording Cornet, S/N: 583819 (1966/1967). Original condition, no repairs or solders. Finish has suffered from age. Valves and slides have no play and are in excellent working condition. First valve bottom pipe has three very small dings, otherwise without dings or dents. Comes with Martin case xlt. And Bach 10 1/2 mouthpiece. This cornet is of medium weight, free and open blowing horn with a bold, bright lush and warm tonality. Flexible, and responsive and known for its outstanding tone and complex overtones. The Olds Recording models will perform with superb results throughout all registers. It would make an excellent choice as a jazz or blues axe, and with the right mouthpiece, can also perform very well playing classical styles. Here’s a GORGEOUS Olds Super Recording trumpet from the personal collection of J. The Olds Super Recordings are very rare instruments. They combine the red brass alloy and the balanced action of the Recording with with pure raw tone quality of the Super to create a trumpet that has the best features of both. This particular horn is AWESOME. The finish is unusual and I do not know if it is original or not, but the engraving is very sharp. If original this finish would ahve been a special order. There are no dents or dings and no signs that this horn has ever had any damage. Valves are super tight and this horn is a MONSTER! PROVENANCE: This instrument is from the personal collection of guitarist J.
