Lovely vintage Selmer Super alto with a lovely dark lacquer finish. The horn is physically in nice condition with a few minor cosmetic blemishes and dings The pads are old. It does play a bit with a rich lyrical sound but clearly needs some pad work. It will be a lyrical masterpiece when adjusted correctly. SELMER PARIS MARK VI MADE IN 1967. This horn is a collectors dream example of a low A and high F# key Mar k vi. Low A Mark VIs are some of the most rare Selmer Paris horns ever made. These horns were made an extremely small runs or custom order through out the year and were never any kind of mass produced horn. Selmer company made little more than 200. This saxophone has a new pad and works fine. It had wear and tear, it is clean in disinfected. I have little time with him, I have no information. Of his story but this seems to have been re-lacquer. Selmer Super Balanced Action Alto Saxophone. Serial number 51 dates this saxophone to 1952. This horn plays great!!! The sound is beautiful – powerful and fat, as legendary should sound “SBA”. The gold lacquer is not original (I think it is about 30 years old) , picture engraving detailed and distinct. The lacquer layer is very thin, the coating was done well and this did not affect the sound in any way. Excellent playing condition and recently serviced. Black kangaroo leather pads are installed. Some improvements were made to the ergonomics of the keys and the replacement of thethumb rest for right and left hand with a modern, plastic one. Original case is in excellent condition. I’ve had this since the mid-eighties. It’s in very good shape, though last played and serviced in 2012. Been sitting in it’s case since then. Includes the mouthpiece, a “Maxline” custom-made wood touring case (which I had made for a 2012 tour), and the lighter-weight black/blue plastic case pictured. The sax has great mechanics and intonation, has a very classic Selmer Mark VI sound – it has a rare Low A key, like a baritone, note the extra thumb key below the black thumb rest and opposite the octave key. Interestingly, for me this was extremely practical because among the things I did with it was play it through an octave and double octave FX pedal to emulate baritone parts for the rock band Menomena (who arranged a lot of baritone). The extra low-a hole/pad and slightly extended bell actually give it a verrrrry subtley warmer tone, ie. It seems to emphasize the classic warmth of a 60s mark vi. I put resonator pads on this horn, because I like the slightly brighter vibe of these on this horn. It has a lowish serial number 106518, attributed to approximately 1963. It does appear to have been re-laquered, I presume in the early eighties, becasuse the lacquer looked quite new in the mid-eighties when I acquired it. HMU with any questions. Selmer Balanced Action Trumpet 19A. Trumpet overall in very good shape. Could use spit valve corks being replaced. Case is old but not sure if it’s original but looks it. All the numbers match on this horn. Valves are great and horn plays well. It’s a 19A and is smaller bore, same model Louis Armstrong Played on. I believe this trumpet is from 1946. I had planned on having it gone through and gold plated but decided I wasn’t a collecter, just a player and have too many trumpets as it is. If no one is interested you might get a good deal! Get your hands on one of the world’s greatest saxophones. I’ve played it 15 hours since then. I love this horn but sadly don’t make the time to play it anymore. I’d much rather it be in the hands of someone who can appreciate it. The serial number is 202091. A couple of things to note. I have some trouble getting out low notes. It may be that the pads are leaking. It could also be that I’m just rusty and haven’t played it in a while. The lacquer as far as I know is original. I never did anything to it. You’ll notice a weird pattern on the lacquer inside the bell. I kept the neck in a cloth case in the bell while the Sax was in its case. There are no dents or dings that I can see. The black thing at the top of the horn is a brush that I keep inside to keep out the dust.
