Antique Mellophone Horn Windsor Model Elkhart IN 3 Valves Conn Mouthpiece Serial # 64767 No Case. Would make a great gift or keep for yourself! Nice antique Mellophone antique mellophone from Elkhart, IN USA. The mellophone body is all there. The valves move freely. This instrument has the serial number of #64767 on it. There are some dents and dings on the mellophone body. The bell is pretty intact, no dent there. The nickel plated body shows some finish loss and minor corrosion. 2 of the 4 slides still slide open and close. The bore size of each slide is. The body of the mellophone has “Windsor Elkhart IN” and U. The valves operate smoothly and we have oiled the valve assemblies and cylinders to keep them from getting any corrosion, and they are already quite clean. Nice emblazoning of the name and maker on the outside of the bell. One of braces by mouthpiece is missing. As noted, the mouthpiece has “Conn” noted on it. Have not been able to get mouthpiece loose from the horn body. There is some scratching to the mouthpiece on the sides. No marks that would impede play where the lips would make contact with the end. The Mellophone is 15-5/8″ long, by 16″ across (18 w/ mouthpiece in place). The bell is 10.5 across. The Mellophone does not come with a case. This musical instrument is not represented to be in playing condition. The instrument will most likely need refurbishing to make this instrument playable again. Conn 18A Coprion Director Cornet 1955 – Reconditioned – Case & EZ-Tone MP Bore. 484 – Serial# 506. Super cool 1st generation diagonal braced Coprion model cornet with some Flava’. Valves feel great, all slides are smooth, caps thread easily. Aged lacquer looks unique with obvious signs of use. Original case is in functional but rough condition, included is a nice EZ-Tone mouthpiece. UpYourBrass shop policies are to offer only inspected, repaired, thoroughly cleaned, detailed horns. Horn is dis-assembled and inspected, soaked in an organic de-greasing solution and scrubbed. Body, valves and components are treated in an organic chem clean with Tesch products (Tesch is recommended by NAPBIRT). Hand-lapped valves and chambers (This process can take up to an hour). Complete detail of all components, hot water scrubbed and prepped for assembly. Valves aligned, pads and springs replaced as needed. Play tested and final inspected before listing for sale. Clean your instrument regularly (especially lead-pipe and tuning slide) and have a chem-clean or ultrasonic clean done every two years. Vintage cases are all disinfected, cleaned and sanitized but there may be a residual horn smell in any old case. UpYourBrass Policies (please read).
