Mid 1950’s king Zehyr tenor, beautiful lacquer with minor wear , no signs of repairs or dents (2 or 3 tiny dimples shown in pictures), good pads, plays extremely well with a medium dark tone. Original case is solid, but showing its age and has smells a bit. Serial number 340xxx is considered some of the best years, and many say this is a super 20 without the bling! It is a prime vintage, manufactured in 1957 in Cleveland, Ohio, the absolute peak period of quality. It has a fairly recent set of metal resonator pads and t. His sax is set up to good playing adjustment. This horn appears to have been stripped to bare brass and clear coat laquer was hand applied, a process considered to allow freedom of sound vibration comparable to bare brass. This sax has a deep, powerful presence, even response and blows very easily. Comes without a case but this. Vintage KING SUPER 20 TENOR SAXOPHONE 1953 ORIG. LACQUER DBL SOCKET STERLING NECK. Just completely repadded by Yves Prager in Savannah, GA. Yves also does all Jody Jazz personal professional horns. Original case and new professional case included. Case has a cool pocket under the horn for reads and such. This saxophone also includes the original paper work from King dating to January 27th, 1953 seriously who keeps that stuff! It’s a one owner horn. I just received it so I’m technically the second owner. Has a dark rich sound. I have too many so this one must go. The neck is perfect. Lacquer is 80% intact.
