Selmer Mark VI Alto 1972 Vintage Professional Saxophone

Get your hands on one of the world’s greatest saxophones. I’ve played it 15 hours since then. I love this horn but sadly don’t make the time to play it anymore. I’d much rather it be in the hands of someone who can appreciate it. The serial number is 202091. A couple of things to note. I have some trouble getting out low notes. It may be that the pads are leaking. It could also be that I’m just rusty and haven’t played it in a while. The lacquer as far as I know is original. I never did anything to it. You’ll notice a weird pattern on the lacquer inside the bell. I kept the neck in a cloth case in the bell while the Sax was in its case. There are no dents or dings that I can see. The black thing at the top of the horn is a brush that I keep inside to keep out the dust. Super Minty Selmer MARK VI Tenor Sax Rare Find

The serial number is 223xxx. As the pictures show, the horn is in pristine conditions with all the original lacquer intact and no damages none whatsoever. The horn comes in a Selmer USA case that is in perfect shape. As with my other horns, I had my tech at Sam Ash regulate the horn so that it plays before listing it for sale. I did, however, keep the original pads on the horn to reserve its originality. The next owner can decide whether to have them replaced. But as of now, they seal, and the horn plays easily up and down with a fat sound. I dont know what it is with Mark VIs made in 1974, but I have owned many of them, and none of them disappointed, and this particular one is no exception. So, make it yours before its gone. For sale is this very well-preserved Selmer Mark VI tenor saxophone from 1956. It’s a two owners horn. The first owner didn’t play much and the second owner only used it for the first years before putting it away in the closet. He had it overhauled 1970 when he bought it. It hasn’t been repaired or serviced since. It hasn’t even been cleaned! This sax needs an overhaul if you want to use it for professional playing. Most pads are in good condition though, so a collector only needs a few adjustments to make it fully playable. I’ve been able to play it throughout, down to low Bb and yes the sound is just what you can expect from a Selmer from the 50s!! The condition of this saxophone is amazing! Old Selmers rarely come in a condition that is nearly as good as this! Most of the lacquer is intact but first and foremost it’s really clean!!! There are very few deap scratches. Actually, there are surprinsingly few scratches at all. There are very few marks or pitting on the lacquer. There are a few small areas where the brass shows through. There are also a couple of places where there are cracks in the lacquer. I’ve taken close up photos of every single part of this saxophone. Especially of the areas of wear and tear! The saxophone will be packed professionally. I want only the best for this horn! I have done my best to describe the saxophone as fair as possible. It’s in really great condition but you will have to be the judge of that. Take a carefull look at the hundreds of pictures below! Pictures can be sent in full size to you if requested. SELMER MARK VI TENOR SAXOPHONE #154760. Lacquer is 90% original. Mark VI tenor saxophone #154760 was manufactured in 1968, right in the middle of the production run. This one-owner horn was played on, but never toured with or gigged with an awful lot. As a result, most of its lacquer (about 90%) is intact, and there are very few blemishes on the horn. A few scratches front of bell to bow ring, caused by a sax stand; strap ring; body contact side of main tube (surprisingly not along the body side of the bell, what we refer to as “chair scratches”). Looks like a dent was professionally removed from the bow, leaving a scar in the lacquer. Bit of wear on the key touches, and some discoloration on the keys themselves, probably some splatter from a “wet” player. Neck looks like it was pulled down slightly at some point, leaving the crease marks along the side, though it appears to have been straightened. We’ve tried to show these areas in the photos. Most but not all of the pads have been replaced and look quite fresh. There are a few that look like they are original. All pads have brown plastic domed resonators. This horn has been gone over in the shop, to seat all pads and regulate and lubricate the mechanism. Of course you may want to have your own horn tech go over it and set it up to your specs. Selmer Mark VI Alto Sax 1960 5 digit Original lacquer & pads. No known blemishes or work done. I recently played this one at a event just to test it out prior to this sale and it handled and plays very beautifully. This horn will not disappoint the best of saxophone players. It sounds exactly like the epitome of what saxophone should. In other words, It has the sound that everyone looks for in a Selmer Paris Mark VI. Smooth, clean, pure, well centered, Selmer Sound on the upper and lower registers. The metal tone boosters gives it a nice edge but doesn’t take away from it’s core. It’s not over bright and there is no hollowness in the sound. This perticular Mark VI sounds like what made Selmer Paris what it is today. I didn’t want to say absolute Mint because there is just a bit of worn off lacquer on the Eb, C, and the palm keys where the players fingers touched. Just enough to let you know that it has been played at some point over the past 60 years but I would still say that it’s museum quality and very low miles. You can play it like it is or you may wish to have it worked over by your best technician. I really bdon’t deem it necessary at this point as it plays well as it is. It belonged to a Bagpipe Player from Scotland and has been stored away safely for many years and even here, in a temputure controlled environment. 97% original lacquer and only a bit of wear on the thumb rest and some of the key touches. Imperial European Engravings are as sharp as they come. This is a first run horn not a second. No known dents, scratches, pits, or anything else that would degrade or lower it’s collector’s value. The case is just as beautiful as the horn and comes with a denim case cover for it’s protection. Think of this one as a players horn , collector’s horn , and or a future investment. Please check the pictures and ask plenty of questions. I own a small collection of mint condition Selmer Paris Saxophones and a few others but this is one of my most valuable pieces. It looks rather rough around the edges – however it is among the easiest saxophones that I have ever played – no joke, nor exaggeration. It has spent the entirety of its previous life as a New York City professional performance sax – that to me explains why this particular Mark VI plays so ridiculously amazingly… It has lots of resolders, dents, dings, etc. Common for a legitimate performance sax of this vintage. The original Selmer key pearls and rollers are intact. Thoroughly deep cleaned & overhauled… It is fully sorted and ready to continue gigging and blowing audiences away!
