This King Liberty trumpet, model number 93679pp, is a collectors item dating back to the years between 1925 to 1930. It is highly sought-after. 2nd valve is not working.
You rarely see these early Alexander 103s for sale! The Alexander 103 was first put into production in 1907. This Alexander 103 was dated to 1912 from an Alexander employee, at the very least Pre-WWI. It had a recent valve job so it plays great! Great highs, strong lows, intonation consistent. Smaller bore than the modern 103s. The horn is built at A=438 (common late Romantic pitch) and takes a narrow shank mouthpiece, but with the right mouthpiece it can play at A=440 fine with the main and Bb tuning slides pushed in. If necessary there is room to shorten either the main or Bb tuning slide to bring it more easily up to modern pitch. The bell and bell tail have numerous patches, but the metal is otherwise strong. This is a very RARE Holton ST-303 MF valve/ slide trumpet made in 1977. It’s in excellent original condition, and has been professionally cared and played. All slides and valves move smoothly and lightly. Compression is very good. Visually speaking has some superficial lacquer scratches and imperfections. Original lacquer is around 99,9% complete. Three extremely little dings that are almost impossible to catch with a camera. Not red rot or corrosion. Slide stop mechanism might be tricky sometimes if you don’t know exactly how to use it (I do this with my eyes closed, so is nothing serious, 5′ repair work if you want to rectify it). No dents, no visible prior reparations. Includes original case, shop cards and original catalogue. All this makes this instrument a collector’s item besides a real player. Bell: 5.0 diameter, hand hammered yellow brass with wire enclosed rim, bell tilted 20 degrees. Leadpipe: Yellow brass, special taper. Pistons: Monel material with double-slotted spring barrel, enclosed stainless steel springs. Slides: 1st, 2nd, & 3rd valve slides are nickel silver outside and inside slides. Hand slide: Assembly has two finger rings and can be played left- or right-handed. The hand slide assembly has inside tubes that are chrome plated with nickel-silver outers. This is a Vintage 1965 Bach Bb Trumpet in lacquer finish. Serial number 36396 makes it one of the first horns to come out of the Elkhart shop. I have played and owned many Bach trumpets and this is by far the best one I have owned. I acquired the horn in the midwest from an estate sale. The horn was played but not abused. Shows normal signs of wear for a horn of this age but definitely playable for another lifetime. Look at pics for wear. Sings with that characteristic Bach sound. Seems more open in the upper register than my other Bach horns. Time for me to retire and clean house. Horn needs to be played.
