Vintage Conn Director Copper Bell Trumpet and Case. Item is in good used condition, may need some cleaning up and valve oil, all parts move, some a little stiffer than others looks good and appears to be in good overall condition, shows signs of use, has scuffs and scratches, a few small dents on tube, over all seems to be in playable condition, comes with hard case, hard case not in best condition, but included for protection, please look at the pictures to see condition. Pan American Trumpet 1950 (Conn Director) – Refurbished – Case and Conn 4 MP Bore. 438 – Serial# 199. Original condition Pan American has 90% lacquer and is good condition showing minor blems and scratches. Valves are fast with excellent compression, slides are smooth and caps thread easily. Tuning slide has had soldered work completed. Case is solid and in good condition with good latches and hinges. Horn comes with a Bach 7C mouthpiece. UpYourBrass shop policies are to offer only inspected, repaired, thoroughly cleaned, detailed horns. Horn is dis-assembled and inspected, soaked in an organic de-greasing solution and scrubbed. Body, valves and components are treated in an organic chem clean with Tesch products (Tesch is recommended by NAPBIRT). Hand-lapped valves and chambers (This process can take up to an hour). Complete detail of all components, hot water scrubbed and prepped for assembly. Valves aligned, pads and springs replaced as needed. Play tested and final inspected before listing for sale. Clean your instrument regularly (especially lead-pipe and tuning slide) and have a chem-clean or ultrasonic clean done every two years. Vintage cases are all disinfected, cleaned and sanitized but there may be a residual horn smell in any old case. UpYourBrass Policies (please read). Valves feel great, slides are firm and smooth and the original Samsonite built case is in good condition. Horn required resoldering the lyre bracket, nice and solid now. Cool Old trumpet picked up from estate sale. The valves pump very nicely and smooth. Has not been played in many years so could probably use a good cleaning. Does have some dings on it from use. This vintage Conn 18B trumpet is in good playing condition as is and has plenty of life left to live. The serial number, 515895, dates it to 1955. It has had repairs in the past, including on the bell flare and bow. The lacquer is mostly down to raw brass and has a nice patina; remaining lacquer is dark colored, but will probably be short lived. All slides function well. The valves are very quick, smooth, and overall compression is not bad, age considering. The original case is included and is functional. A Herco mouthpiece is also included. CASE : Yes; functional condition but does have wear and tear from past use. Mouthpiece :Yes; Herco mouthpiece is included. Nice condition on the cup / rim. The shank has plating loss and is not completely round, but nothing to greatly affect playability. No size markings, but it is quite shallow. NOTES : Lots of cosmetic wear and previous dent repair on this 18B. Plays great as-is and still holds up to the early Conn reputation. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask.
