I brought these in with our usual bugle orders to have available for the local students. But it looks like the local band program is not doing much this year due to the outbreak, so it’s best to find a home for these horns and prepare for next year. I actually prefer to sell these student horns locally because they are of high quality and that can be shown and felt, much harder to do on an online sale, but I’ll try. A well taken picture of a crummy horn can look better than this quality horn. I’ve never had a return of the DTR200 or DTR200SP. The horn is a solid build, for those who played many years ago, quality of perhaps an Olds Ambassador and much better than the CONN and BUNDY student horns of days gone past. The finish is nicer than the Ambassador probably due to the newer machining techniques. It has a 1st valve saddle along with a third valve slide using a screw catch to keep it from flying out. There is an adjustable 3rd valve ring which is an advantage when the horn is played by a younger player with growing hands. For me, I have a weird grip and like the ring very close to the 3rd valve, so I like an adjustable ring. Take a look at the spit valve, pretty thick medal, I see a lot of manufacturers skimping in this area, but a cheap spit valve can put a horn out of action at the worst possible time. Included is a 7C mouthpiece and a light weight case. The case can be worn like a back pack. I wish I had something like this way back when, I probably would of practiced more since the practice rooms were on the other side of campus and that hard wooden case was no fun to lug. I really like the play of the horn, very responsive. The valves are as good as they come, even compared to my long term Getzen horn, and we know how good Getzen valves are (well, if you don’t know, ask any long time trumpet player). One fellow canceled an order for a “C” trumpet because he didn’t realize it was a “C” trumpet. However, if there is a true problem, let us know.
