1927 Conn New Wonder II Chu Portrait Artist Alto Sax, Nice, Plays Great
This is a great-playing example of a rare Conn New Wonder II Chu portrait or artist model alto saxophone manufactured in the 1927, #M156XXX. This sax has it’s original laquer finish and the bell engraving is extremely sharp. His sax is in used condition with normal wear and scratching from many years, and everything works great, and it is set up to good playing adjustment on flat metal resonator pads that are fairly recent. Replacement silver high E key as seen in photos 7 and 8, a correct replacement, and a resoldered high E/side Bb post as seen in photo 8, no effect on the great sound of this sax. This sax has a very flexible expressive sound with a warm, vintage edge. The item “1927 Conn New Wonder II Chu Portrait Artist Alto Sax, Nice, Plays Great” is in sale since Sunday, June 21, 2020. This item is in the category “Musical Instruments & Gear\Wind & Woodwind\Band & Orchestral\Saxophones”. The seller is “saxophant” and is located in Coventry, Connecticut. This vintage CONN 6H features an 8 Bell in yellow brass with nickel-silver accents. 500 bore, chrome plated nickel-silver inner slide/gold tinted yellow brass outer slide with nickel-silver accents. Manufactured in Elkhart, Indiana in 1964. There are signs of use, such as scratches, small dents, dings, lacquer deterioration, and plating loss as seen in the pictures. The handslide is fast, 8-9/10 with no hang-ups. The outer slide tubes have been flex-honed, any dings neutralized, and the slide aligned. There are several small plating chips on the upper and lower edges of both inner tube stockings, but this does not interfere with slide action. New felts were installed in the handslide grip barrels. The horn is clean and ready to play; Just add slide lube. The trombone comes with a clean, serviceable King coffin case which is in good condition. Handles are secure and latches work. I have been a player, musical instrument repair tech, and collector for many years, but now find that its become more of a burden than a joy to repair/restore and keep so many trombones. Over the next several months, I will be thinning out the herd! The item “VINTAGE CONN 6H ARTIST PROFESSIONAL TROMBONE ELKHART 1964″ is in sale since Friday, April 3, 2020. This item is in the category “Musical Instruments & Gear\Brass\Trombones”. The seller is “northstar1939″ and is located in Fayetteville, New York. This item can be shipped worldwide.

Selmer Balanced Action 1938 Tenor Saxophone Artist Owned with OHSC
1938 Selmer Balanced Action Tenor Saxophone – Artist Owned -Benny Goodman’s Band. Selmer Paris released the Balanced Action officially in 1935. It was another leap forward for Selmer, and sort of a response to the great American-made saxes that were so popular in the 20’s and 30’s. It has a bigger bore throughout, giving you some added volume with less effort. It also was the first Selmer horn to put the bell keys together on right side of the bell, a style since copied by pretty much all modern horns. A model played by many Jazz artists of the time including Stan Getz. Serial Number 26xxx puts it in the year of 1938, more than 80 years old piece of Selmer historyThe instrument was bought in an estate sale! A prime example of a Selmer Balanced Action Tenor in a great condition played in Benny Goodman’s Band by CHESTER CHET’ BENN. It has that glorious “round” sound which made BA Tenor an instant hit among saxophonists at that time playing melodies & lyrical notes. Nothing can actually beat sound of a full volume Balanced Action Tenor, arguably second to Conn 10M. It is a case of Factory relacquer, you can see that crisp engraving pattern of floral themes & Mountain with House & trees, verifying it to be well done job with proper baking as it was done in those early years. It seems that after getting relacquered from the Selmer USA factory, it was not played again until recent years. Experts can tell you that some relacquer are dead sounding but this one is vibrant and you can actually feel the resonance of notes in your hands. Also look at the natural patina, which is beautiful. No major resolders or any dents. Original Neck is Solid & round. The action is extremely light and fluid. The feeling is beautiful and helps you execute faster lines much better than any other saxophone or the market. Pads are in real good shape and have years of life in them. Comes in its Original Black Case, Original Wood Cap, Vintage Reed Box, Saxophone Pad Saver, Pack of Pads w/ Metal Resonators that were previously installed. It is getting increasingly difficult to find Balanced Action TENORS in such a good condition with solid body, old factory relacquer, crisp engraving and that elusive FAT & ROUND Tone. Your search may end with this one. It sounds as good as an original lacquer one and Ive played a few in person to confirm that. On a side note – A genuine offer near the asking price has better chance of accepting. Ships from Sayreville, NJ, USA. The item “Selmer Balanced Action 1938 Tenor Saxophone Artist Owned with OHSC” is in sale since Wednesday, January 8, 2020. This item is in the category “Musical Instruments & Gear\Wind & Woodwind\Band & Orchestral\Saxophones”. The seller is “vaibhav.mittal” and is located in Sayreville, New Jersey. Vintage Conn 88H Conn Artist Symphony Large Bore Trigger Trombone
Conn 88H Artist Symphony Trigger Trombone. This will make a nice playing trombone for a comeback player or advancing student who isn’t concerned with looks and cosmetic blemishes. The trombone is not pretty. There is very little lacquer left. There are dents, the worse is in the crook of the tuning slides (see last photo). There are solder marks and scaring from past dent removal. There is a small crack in the inner slide which can be viewed in photo 11. The slide has a nice feel and is smooth without catches. The trigger is also smooth and highly functional. The red brass bell produces a full open lyrically sound. Included is a newer Schilke 51D large shank mouthpiece. The case is original but is in very bad condition. It will hold the trombone but is not a case for long term use. RARE CUT BADGE CHROME OVER BRASS LUDWIG “ARTIST” MODEL 1971 SUPRAPHONIC LM406 SNARE DRUM: This Supra wears has the very rare CUT BADGE and the brass Supra shell. THIS WAS THE VERY FIRST VERSION OF THE BLUE AND OLIVE BADGE. The badges had to be cut in order to fit next to the shell’s bead as the shells were already drilled for the smaller keystone badges. Note the “B” stamp behind the top of the tone muffler (see picture). Batter head is new old stock (NOS) vintage Ludwig silver dot High Torque and the s nare side head is a BRAND NEW Ludwig WeatherMaster. Hardware is original 12-hole P85 strainer, original buttplate, original large knob tone muffler , and original Ludwig script style snare wires. This beauty is pristine with one flaw. There are four (4) strange vertical cracks in the shell. We have a vast network of vintage drum knowledge and we’ve yet to find someone who has seen this or what could have caused it. However, we do not perceive a difference in her AMAZING sound. Listen to her sound file here. The sought-after brass sound, so much more powerful than a Ludalloy model, is just amazing. These don’t surface for sale very often, this is a great chance for the serious Ludwig collector to own a piece of the company’s lauded history. Thanks so much for looking! As always, the drum package you will receive is exactly as pictured. WE HAVE NO TOLERANCE FOR SCAMMERS. The item “CUT BADGE/B-STAMP!
