For sale is this used (Im the second owner) Selmer Super Action 80 Series II Tenor saxophone WITH Jodi Jazz #7 Mouthpiece and case. This saxophone was refurbished at one point before I owned it and is in great condition. No dents, obvious sections have been refinished (see picture of the neck, etc) but finish is still in great condition, light marks around the belt line/curve of the instrument, one small section of the finish is chipped (smaller than pinky nail). Ive had an absolute blast with this instrument and have played it a lot and it sounds phenomenal. All mouthpieces have been thoroughly cleaned, this instrument has been cleaned/wiped after every use as I was very hygienic with them. I want to give this instrument to someone who will play the keys off it, enjoy it as its a professional grade instrument especially with this mouthpiece. Selmer Reference 54 tenor saxophone sax. A real player’s horn. My last gig with the horn was in Manhattan at Bowery Electric in March 2020. The pads are good. The “Vintage” or “Antique” finish has been market up or scratched on various places around the horn but it only adds to the cool patina. My previous horn was a quirky Mark VI.. The thing I prefer about the 54 is that it plays very neutral/flexible and let’s you shape the sound. 54 tenor has received a pro set-up within the past year from the great NYC repairman Bill Singer. Bill Singer also hammered out a dent in the bow about ten years ago. He did a great job and the horn sounds as good as it did before the dent. Comes in a decent pro-tec case. Zoom in to look at that patina! Serial number is N6209xx which pegs it to 2001/2002 manufactured. I just added some daylight pictures as the originals didnt quite capture the patina as I picture it as I see it. These new photos go too far in the other direction and are bright. A Selmer Gold Plated Balanced Action Alto Saxophone 1937. An opportunity to acquire a Selmer balanced action saxophone. Also please ask questions or request specific photographs and I will do my best to provide what is required. This very collectible saxophone is in really amazing condition for its 84years. It is free blowing and in playable condition although probably requiring a service. The pads are relatively recent and in good condition and all the keys are free moving as are the rollers. The pearl is sound. It has been well played but also very well looked after. The instrument is gold plated in smooth and satin finishes and there are no dents however there is a very small and slightly flattened patch at bottom rear that Ive tried to show on the pictures. Some of the keys show play wear and in places you can see the gold has worn through to the silver plate and beyond to the brass especially around the thumb rest and neck support ring. The engraving is very ornate and crisp. It comes in its original fitted case that works – however one catch has lost its spring although it still shuts ok. Thank you all for looking. All keys move freely and the pads are in good condition. There are no major dents present and several minor dings are too small to photograph. This alto sax has scratches throughout from normal use and the honey gold lacquer wear is minimal, with approximately 90-95% of the lacquer intact. The serial number is in the 720, xxx range and some lacquer is discolored surrounding the number. Included is a gently used Selmer Paris zippered alto sax case(with carrying strap that isn’t pictured). No mouthpiece is included. This is a Selmer Balanced Action Tenor SN#: 34465. I do not know if it was a re-lacquer or not. I had it overhauled by Weiner Music. In Long Island around 1999. It came back with the Key Clamps you see in the photos. I played it a few times after over-haul and it played great! I was playing mostly Bari and Alto then. So it did not get played very much. This horn is a one of a kind. Special Balanced Action because. Whomever had it before me had a MarkVI neck fitted to it. Once that was done the original. Neck was ostensibly lost. Spectacularly with the MarkVI neck and I have had a few Balanced Action owners. Try the horn and they unanimously said it had a better tone, and was easier blowing. Most keys move freely and the pads/corks are only in fair condition(has older dry pads, which should be replaced soon for optimal performance). There are NO patches and No major dents present. This tenor saxophone has scratches throughout from normal use and lacquer wear is noticeable, with approximately 75-80% of lacquer intact(most likely this has been professionally re-lacquered at some time). There is noticeable engraving detail on the bell/bow and the matching body/neck serial number is in the lower 47, xxx range, which dates the year of manufacture to 1951. Included is a well used, structurally sound wood shell tenor saxophone case(latches catch, but springs are broken, missing one case handle and the other case handle needs to be replaced soon) and a granadilla wood body end plug. SELMER MARK VI Alto Saxophone Plays (fantastically very minimal key noise). Changed all necessary pads and springs and then checked for all leaks by a very fine technician in NJ. It plays wonderfully with the famous Mark VI warm sound. It has very minimal key noise… It is a 1962 made and the serial # is 102, xxx (one of the golden years of Mark VI). YES it plays right out of the case! It comes with the original case – normal wear with a fragile sticker on the back side. I have had numerous inquiries about this following question: Has this sax ever been relacquered? Answer: YES, this sax has been relacquered a while back but not during the time that I owned this sax.
